queer prom

Learn how YOU can give our ArtLab teens a night to shine!

why a queer prom?

For many LGBTQIA+ teens, truly welcoming spaces are few and far between. Rigid gender norms, unspoken expectations, and the constant fear of being judged can dim the vibrant identities of queer youth: limiting their ability to show up fully and thrive. That’s why we’re creating something different.

Our first-ever Queer Prom is a celebration designed by and for LGBTQIA+ youth. An ArtLab intern committee is leading the way, shaping every detail, from the theme and activities to how the night will feel. This event offers a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment where queer youth and allies can come together in joy, authenticity, and community.

this is what we do.

68% of ArtLab Interns identify as LGBTQIA+ (38% trans, nonbinary, nonconforming). Over the years, many youth have come back as adults to tell us ArtLab was life-saving for them.

As one youth who transitioned genders during his 3-year involvement with ArtLab said, “ArtLab was a safe haven for me; a constant I could always come back to once a week and spend time making things I was passionate about. I could talk to like-minded people about the process and meet new people too. I spent a lot of time learning to be more social in a safe space with people who shared my interests.”

help the night shine!
